Scholarship
Nationally, Kappa Alpha Theta prides itself on striving for the highest scholarship, and the Omega Chapter is no different! Here at UC Berkeley, Thetas attend study hours, bring professors to our semiannual scholarship dinners, and hold weekly presentations on education or scholarship-related topics. The Sorority Women's Average GPA at Cal is consistently higher than the All Women's GPA, and at Theta, we hold high standards to keep it this way. Study hard Thetas and keep up the good work!
Study Hours
While the libraries on campus are always popular places for Thetas to study, we also maintain an academic-oriented environment in our very own house. Two evenings a week, we hold quiet study hours in our dining room, in addition to the 24-hour quiet study room, equipped with desktop computers, wireless internet access, and study files. During final examinations there are study hours around the clock, and Thetas have access to snacks, test booklets, scantrons, and other study aids.
Scholarship Dinners
One evening every semester, we hold a scholarship dinner to introduce the Cal faculty to our Omega Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. Women invite their professors or graduate student instructors to this event, where we recognize those Thetas who have performed especially well academically.
Those Thetas who earn a 4.0 grade point average for any semester earn the "scholarship pearl" and are awarded a special pearl to add to their pin. Five Thetas were recognized for such outstanding academic achievements last semester.
The following Thetas earned a 4.0 GPA last semester and were awarded the scholarship pearl:
Claire Bonelli
Kathryn Horwath
Kristyn Hara
Rebecca Rosen
Lindsay Hunter
Congratulations ladies on such an impressive academic achievement!
Education and Scholarship Presentations
From business etiquette to Jimmy Buffet, the topics we cover in our education and scholarship presentations have no limits! They are always fun, informative, and designed and presented by the women of our chapter. For upcoming presentations, we hope to include guest speakers, including Theta alumni who can advise us on our career paths.
