Our Home

Omega Thetas call 2723 Durant Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94704 their "home sweet home-away-from-home." Located just one block from Berkeley Law School at Boalt Hall and the rest of the Cal campus, we are proud to call this four story mansion our home in the heart of the Greek community.

Our first official house, complete with a swimming pool, was built in 1908 by Omega Theta alumna and renowned architect Julia Morgan especially for her Theta sisters. In 1940, the house was rebuilt from the ground up to meet modern structural safety standards by 20th century architect Gardner A. Dailey, where it still stands with pride today. Our home's interior was featured in the April 1946 edition of Architectural Record. Its exterior appeared on the cover of the international Kappa Alpha Theta Magazine.

By the 1950's, a larger house was needed to accommodate the growing number of Thetas. Construction began in 1956 on an addition to the west side of the house, now known affectionately as "New." Today, our chapter house has a spacious first floor with living, entertaining, and dining areas, a re-decorated study room, multiple sun-decks, a private gym with state-of-the-art equipment, a TV room, an additional movie room with a new flat screen television, 2 outdoor patio areas and a private lawn. Four floors of bedrooms house over 60 sisters comfortably. High-speed wireless internet is reliably available throughout the house, making studying and researching extremely convenient.

Many changes are happening over the next few summers: new paint, bathrooms, carpet, and landscaping are only a few of the updates our house will boast at the end of this major remodeling. We are so proud of our history and legacy at UC Berkeley and look forward to a bright future full of sisterhood and memories!

Our dining room, where formal banquets and scholarship dinners are served.

Our living room, where Thetas gather to chat, mingle, and enjoy one another's company.

Our Card Room contains Omega Theta memorabilia dating back to our chapter's inception in 1890 on the University of California, Berkeley campus.

Our private lawn is the ideal venue for sunny chapter socials, homecoming BBQs, and general Theta fun!
